The science behind longer, stronger lashes
Xlash has a triple-action formula – it contains active, hydrating and calming ingredients. One example of an active ingredient is biotin peptide, a combination of biotin and peptide that helps your natural lashes grow. A hydrating ingredient is, for example, hyaluronic acid, which can bind moisture equal to 1,000 times its own weight. We've also added calming ingredients such as green tea and chamomile extract to make the formula as gentle as possible. The serum contains no artificial fragrances or colours.
Six people are involved in different roles. These can be production, quality control and the analysis lab.
There's a lot of planning of the physical premises, because different products must not be manufactured on the same day. The division of roles within production usually looks like this: one person prepares and weighs all the ingredients, someone else prepares the mixer, where a hygiene check is carried out before starting, then mixing begins and takes around four hours. After that the testing begins, and that takes around three hours. When the blend is preliminary, it's placed in quarantine awaiting further checks. So it's quite a long process.
After a week, when the formula is approved, we start filling the containers and carry out an individual check of the whole bottle to make sure everything is in the best possible condition. They're fed into the filling machine continuously. After filling comes a check of weight, any leakage and sealing. The containers are then shrink-wrapped and packed into final packaging. After that it's sent on to Xlash Cosmetics' own warehouse!
The quality checks and the choice of ingredients
We carry out many tests on incoming raw materials and make sure they meet the regulatory requirements in place. We also do a great deal of microbiological analysis to demonstrate purity.
It takes around five days from preparing the raw materials, mixing and control analyses to decanting ahead of filling.
We keep a close eye on the suppliers of all ingredients and make sure they meet the quality standard. Canopus must regularly carry out supplier evaluations to guarantee good quality and traceability. After the containers are filled, they wait in quarantine for up to two weeks for all the analysis results before they're approved for sale.
