Your Lashes' Three Phases Explained

Just like the hair on your head, your eyelashes go through a natural growth cycle. Read on if you're curious about how to keep your lashes healthy — and how a lash serum can influence their growth.

1. Anagen – The Growth Phase

Your eyelash growth cycle begins in the growth phase. This is where the magic happens! Your lashes are actively growing, and this is the ideal time for them to benefit from a serum. Xlash Eyelash Serum is specially developed to strengthen lashes from the root, giving them the best possible start for growing long and strong. This phase lasts between 30 and 45 days.

2. Catagen – The Transition Phase

After a period of active growth, your lashes enter the transition phase. This is a period where growth pauses and each lash prepares itself for the next step. Even though your lashes aren't growing during this phase, it's important to keep applying your serum regularly — to nourish and strengthen the lashes that will soon make way for new ones.

3. Telogen – The Resting Phase

The final phase is the resting phase — a period of rest for the older lashes, which are gradually replaced by new ones. This phase can last up to 100 days, and here too it's important to maintain lash quality and provide nourishment with your serum.

It may take a little longer for you to see results from your serum if several of your lashes are in the final phase of the growth cycle when you start using it. By getting to know and understand these phases, you can give your lashes the best conditions to grow longer and stronger.

Why Am I Losing Lashes?

Lashes shed when they reach the end of the telogen phase, making way for new lashes to grow. Not all lashes are in the same phase at the same time — which is exactly why you don't lose all of your lashes at once.
