Jenna Nevrin is one of our Xlash Ambassadors, and you can find her at @jennalovisa. She's a super cool fitness enthusiast with a primary focus on health and a keen interest in beauty. We share her top beauty tips, how she combines the gym with beauty, and discuss the ever-relevant question of makeup and working out.
How long have you been committed to training?
I've been working out at the gym for a total of 4-5 years, but I would say only a little over the past two years have been truly quality years. A lot of food combined with intense training – things that have benefited both my body and health. Before that, I mostly trained to slim down and didn't really understand the importance of finding a balance that makes you feel good and comfortable.
What do you train?
I train five days a week, primarily focusing on strength training, but I sometimes throw in some cardio or HIIT workouts. I love lifting heavy, but I also think it's fun to vary my training sometimes and do something unexpected to shock the body a little extra.
What's your best beauty tip?
I believe that natural is always the most beautiful. That's why I really love products that give me a naturally beautiful look. Naturally long lashes from Xlash are probably my absolute best life hack, but I also love creams and highlights that give my skin a lot of glow.
How long have you been using Xlash?
I started with Xlash when I got back from Thailand last year in early March, so yes, we're celebrating 1 year together now, me and my favorite product.
What do you think about working out with makeup?
I think it's entirely up to each person. I sometimes train with makeup if, for example, I plan to film or take photos during the session, but I actually feel freshest without makeup, as it really lets the skin breathe and prevents pores from getting clogged with makeup. However, I usually wear very little makeup, for example, I never use full-coverage foundations... so it's not a big deal if I hit the gym with makeup on.
How do you really feel fresh at the gym?
Hand hygiene is key. You should remember to wash your hands both before and after the workout because if you start touching your face with dirty hands, it will leave marks on your skin, something I've really noticed myself. I also bring face wipes that I either use to remove makeup at the beginning of the workout or right after, as I sometimes feel gross when sweat mixes with makeup.
What's most important for you to feel fresh as quickly as possible?
One of the best things I know is washing off a face mask and really feeling the effect it has on the skin. And right after, washing the face, using a nice scrub, and finishing with moisturizing the entire face. Dreamy.
What results has Xlash given you, and how has it changed your beauty routine?
Where do I even start, haha? Xlash has literally taken me from 0 to 100, for real. When I removed my lash extensions, my lashes didn't even exist, but they got a fresh start with Xlash. I think it took me about 7-8 weeks to achieve full results, and then I was hooked. Since it takes like three seconds to apply the serum and I barely need to use mascara, curl my lashes, or anything similar, I obviously save a lot of time (and money since no extensions or anything are needed). I LOVE how much it has simplified things for me, and I wish everyone could understand how worth it it is..
