If you want those perfect, almost unnaturally full lashes, eyelash extensions can be a great option. In just a moment, you get a completely new look without the need for mascara or eyelash curlers. Sounds convenient, right? But can you combine eyelash serum with eyelash extensions? We asked lash and brow stylist Marija "Maxa" Pasajeva.
If you've had eyelash extensions yourself, you probably know it's important to be gentle with them. At Xlash, we've noticed that many who use eyelash extensions wonder if they can be combined with eyelash serum. We turned to lash and brow stylist Marija "Maxa" Pasajeva with this question. With a big smile and years of expertise, she welcomes her clients at Beauty Lounge Stockholm in Kungsholmen, Stockholm. We also asked her what actually happens when you use eyelash serum while having extensions. She is one of many lash stylists worldwide who recommend their clients use eyelash serum, especially Xlash Eyelash Serum.
Hi Maxa! Can you combine Xlash Eyelash Serum with eyelash extensions?
– Yes, you can. The only potential issue is if you apply Xlash directly on the extensions instead of brushing it on the skin at the roots, says Maxa.
One reason it's okay to use Xlash Eyelash Serum with eyelash extensions is that the product is formulated completely without oils. Instead, it's water-based and doesn't damage the extensions. For the serum to give the best results, it's important to use it correctly, whether you have extensions or not. As Maxa recommends, you should apply Xlash on the skin near the lash roots, much like an eyeliner.
If you're considering trying eyelash extensions, it might actually be a good idea to "prepare" your lashes with an eyelash serum. We recommend starting to use Xlash a month before getting extensions. This gives your natural lashes time to grow stronger and healthier, making them more resilient to the stress of extensions.
What happens if you combine Xlash with your eyelash extensions?
– If you combine serum with extensions, you might need to go for refills more often, as Xlash stimulates lash growth, says Maxa.
Can eyelash extensions damage your natural lashes?
– If the technician does a good job and the client takes care of them properly, then no, extensions don't damage the lash roots. We damage them ourselves with improper treatment at the salon or at home, explains Maxa.
Is the glue used for eyelash extensions harmful to hair follicles?
– No, because the lash roots are about 2mm into the skin.

Many who stop using eyelash extensions feel their natural lashes become much shorter afterward. What can be done about that?
– You can start using Xlash Eyelash Serum about three months before you want to remove your extensions, so you don't feel like you have no lashes left. When clients come to me, their natural lashes are usually around 6–10 mm long. They often start with extensions of 9–13 mm, then get used to the lashes being thicker, denser, darker, longer, and more curled. Over time, they want the technician to use even longer lashes. If you stop using extensions suddenly, you might feel your natural lashes are much shorter and be shocked, but it's just a matter of habit. That's why I think it's a good option to start with serum while you still have extensions, says Maxa.
Can you use Xlash Eyelash Serum instead of eyelash extensions?
– Absolutely! Xlash is much cheaper than extensions, plus you can do the treatment yourself at home, and it only takes five seconds, says Maxa.
Xlash Eyelash Serum
Whether you have eyelash extensions or not, Xlash Eyelash Serum is a great way to make your lashes healthier and stronger. As a bonus, they become longer.
We understand it can be tempting to get eyelash extensions. It can be nice not to have to use mascara every day and always wake up with perfect lashes. However, it's an expensive treatment and takes a lot of your time, as you need to visit the salon regularly for refills. Maybe you feel eyelash extensions aren't your thing after all? Then Xlash is a particularly good and cheaper alternative.
With the help of only naturally active ingredients, Xlash Eyelash Serum boosts your lashes with lots of nutrients. Try the serum for at least 28 days and look forward to up to 70 percent longer lashes. You'll also find they are stronger and thicker, which reduces the risk of them being damaged or breaking. Many who have used Xlash have even been asked if they're wearing false eyelashes!
To achieve a good and long-lasting result with Xlash, it's important to use the product regularly and apply it along the lash roots. This allows the serum's beneficial vitamins, minerals, and proteins to work down to the hair follicles. They then have the opportunity to both extend the eyelash growth cycle and stimulate the hair follicles, resulting in longer, fuller, and thicker lashes. Xlash contains only safe ingredients that neither irritate nor harm the eyes.
Eyelash extensions or eyelash serum? The choice is yours
If you're still unsure whether extensions are for you but like the look of long lashes, we think you should invest in Xlash Eyelash Serum. However, if you use extensions and are happy with them, there's no reason not to use Xlash. It works great in combination! Whether you have extensions or not, Xlash is always a good option to strengthen your lashes and use it as a healthy boost.
