Why your scalp loves rosemary
The benefits of rosemary for a sensitive, itchy scalp
Rosemary is said to have several antiseptic properties that can help soothe a sensitive, itchy scalp. The herb is also believed to offer benefits such as:
- Improving blood circulation in the scalp, which in turn may stimulate hair growth
- Calming a sensitive scalp and acting as an antioxidant
- Possibly easing hair loss
How to make your own rosemary water for the scalp
You'll need:
- 750 ml water
- 10 whole sprigs of rosemary
- Optionally, 4 sprigs of mint
Here's how:
- Bring the water to the boil and add the rosemary and mint.
- Let it simmer for an hour. The water should take on a reddish/purple hue.
- Leave the brew to cool, then pour it through a sieve into a spray bottle.
- Spray the water onto your scalp and massage it in with your fingers or a scalp brush. There's no need to rinse it out. Then style your hair as usual.
