Sunscreen, Your New Best Friend

We get it, nothing looks as fresh and healthy as a nice tan. Many people decide to skip the sunscreen because they reason that it’s worth getting sunburned if it leads to a tan more quickly. There are several problems with this.

The most important reason why you should be wearing sunscreen is your health. You don’t want to get skin cancer. You should look after yourself. The skin actually ‘remembers’ every single time you get burned, but even if it only happens a few times, you could get cancer.

Moving on to the more beauty related reasons why you should be wearing sunscreen. As we established, the skin remembers every single time you get burned and every minute you’ve spent in the sun. The more sun, the more wrinkles in the future. So try to think about the coming summers as well. It’s easy to not care when you’re young and haven’t got any wrinkles, but they will come sooner or later!

But there are more instant benefits to wearing sunscreen. You get a more even tan with fewer lines and can have nice skin next to everybody else who chose not to protect their skin. When you see other women at the beach that has bright red skin with ugly lines after some other bikini, you will be grateful that you decided to go for the safer option and applied sunscreen instead of risking your health and beauty.

Make sure that you apply it several times during the day and put on more after you have been swimming. Use SPF 30 or higher to get good protection!

Many people don’t like wearing makeup at the beach, but it is possible to have long, luscious lashes without wearing mascara. It’s easy to forget about the lips when you go to the beach, but that would be a mistake. Using a lip gloss that protects your lips from the sun is not only practical but will make you look more stylish and put together.

Peel your lips before you apply it so that your lips aren’t dry and flaky. You can either use a lip scrub or the corner of a towel that you soak in some water.

Wear a Suiting Bathing Suit

When you buy your bikini, make sure that it is a model that flatters your figure. You can, for example, choose high cut bikini bottoms to create the illusion of longer legs if you are short, choose a top with some frills or bows if you have a small bust, or go for a one piece if you want to hide your waist.

Don’t just buy what is trendy right now, think about what kinds of models work for your body type and what bathing suits will be the most flattering. That way, you will not only look great at the beach, but you will also be able to use your bikini maybe next summer as well because it really works on you.

Wear Clear Nail Polish

The beach has a tendency to ruin our nails. Go for clear or light pink nail polish. That way, you won’t have to worry too much about it chipping, because it doesn’t show as much as if you’re wearing bright red nail polish.

Use a Leave-In Conditioner

The hair needs to be taken care of as well, of course. Use a nice leave-in conditioner that gives your hair some nice moisture and at the same time makes it look shiny and healthy. There are also products that contain UV-protecting ingredients, which can be a good way to make sure that your hair stays nice.

Try a New Hairdo

The beach is the perfect place to wear your hair in some cool hairstyle. You can experiment with braids, beachy waves, messy buns, or whatever else that you think looks nice.

It’s also a really good opportunity to practice new hairdos since nobody won’t mind if it doesn’t turn out as great as you imagined it. After all, it’s the beach, and people have messy hair, so it doesn’t matter that much if your hair isn’t perfect. On the other hand, if you nail a cool hairstyle, it is an awesome complement to your look that will make you look better than everyone else that only managed a ponytail.

Stay Hydrated

Make sure to drink enough water at the beach. Staying hydrated will make you look (and feel!) more alert, it prevents bloating, makes your skin look nicer and is, of course, also good for your health. Bring a couple of water bottles and try to keep them in the shade. Lukewarm water isn’t very tasty…

Put the bottles in the freezer for a while before you head out, but don’t let them stay until all the water is frozen since water expands when it freezes and your bottle might break.

Take Care of Your Feet

If you want to avoid having to dig them down in the sand every time a cute guy walks past, you need to pamper your feet before you go to the beach.

The first step is to let them soak for a while, and then it’s time to give them a good scrub. Don’t use a foot file, since it will make your skin harder in the long run. You can also use a towel to scrub dead skin off, as long as you have let them soak long enough.

If your feet are in a terrible state, try using socks with exfoliating acids. They work wonders! You keep them on for an hour, and after a few days, your feet start shedding dead skin. The only thing is that they keep shedding for up to two weeks, and they look horrible in the meantime. You can also expect to find dead skin in all of your socks, your slippers and all over your bedroom floor. But they work, and after the process is done, your feet are as smooth as a baby’s.

One way to get smooth feet quickly is to sleep with plastic bags on your feet. It might sound weird, it might look weird, but it really works. Start by putting some foot cream in two plastic bags. Put them on your clean feet and rub the cream all over the feet. This way, you don’t have to get foot cream all over your hands. Then, put on socks and go to sleep. When you wake up in the morning, your feet will be amazingly soft!

Also, make sure to cut your toenails and apply some clear nail polish to make them look naturally beautiful.
